Philippe Starck is known for successfully designing anything from a watch to a boat, night club or building. His style is recognizable by its sensual fluid lines that are inspired by nature and simplified to their essential geometric force. His enfant-terrible and pertinent style made him a mainstream design star.

After graduating from Parisian architecture school Nissim de Camondo in 1968, he made a name for himself by designing soon to become internationally cult nightclubs in Paris in the 1980s and the 1990s.

While working as director of Pierre Cardin’s publishing company in the 1980s, Philippe Starck created his own industrial design company as an atypical designer with cult products for Italian companies like Driade, Alessi and Kartell. His Louis Ghost clear plastique chair has been the most sold modern chair in the USA for years, and his commissioned architectural work is always highly influential and inspirational.

Also available by Philippe Starck: PAT CONLEY 1 CHAIR BY PHILIPPE STARCK FOR XO, BLACK METAL AND STRINGS, 1980S
