The American company Raymor, active from 1941-1981, was very influential on American design and interior decoration. Before founding Raymor with Mr Morgathau, Irvings Richard was scouting Europe for lighting designers to refresh the American lighting company Lightolier. He introduced America to now Iconic designers like Gino Sarfatti, Paavo Tynell, Angelo Lelli, Gaetano Sciolari and Maurizio Tempestini. Raymor benefited from Richard’s knowledge of modern European crafters at a time when traveling to Europe was highly expensive and impractical. Raymor made their name with products by American designer Russel Wright, Italian ceramists Bitossi, Ettore Sottsass, Aldo Londi and Alvino Bagni, American designs by George Nelson, Arthur Umanoff, Gilbert Rode, Michael Lax, Eva Zeisel, and later Danish Modern creations by Hans Wegner.
